My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over 9 years now, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s the importance of a set “date night”. We are both self-employed which means we could easily work through the evenings during the week, and well into the weekend (and many times we do!) That said, I think it’s really healthy to go on regular dates together that isn’t just takeout in sweats and a movie.
I’ve gathered 10 fall date night ideas that I think you’ll really enjoy.
GO SEE A SHOW IN A THEATRE
J and I love a good movie, but every now and then we’ll go see a show and there is something about seeing performers live that is really exciting. We’ll typically get dinner beforehand and treat ourselves to wine during the show. It’s so fun and romantic and we end up spending the rest of the night recapping our favorite parts of the show.
FIND A SPEAKEASY YOU’VE NEVER BEEN TO
I absolutely love a good speakeasy. First of all, if I’m going to have a drink I want it to be delicious, unique and of good quality. Second, the best speakeasys give off a cozy, lowkey vibe that always reminds me of the holidays. Everywhere we travel we try to find the best speakeasy, but there’s even a few in our own neighborhood we’ve yet to try! Adding it to the list.
PICK APPLES AT AN APPLE ORCHARD
Basic, I know, but this has been on my to-do list fall after fall and I’m determined to make it happen! If you live in SoCal and have any you recommend, let me know down below. I did this with my girlfriends a few years back and it was so cozy and fun – therefore I think it would make a great date idea. This would be more of a daytime thing, but a date nonetheless!
GO TO A THEME PARK
We are fortunate enough to live pretty close to Disneyland, but even if you don’t I would go to whatever themepark is closest to you. We have so much fun pretending to be kids again and eating sugary and salty snacks that are not good for you but so nostalgic. (P.S. The dole whip and popcorn at Disneyland are vegan!) There are also so many fun and festive holiday decorations that really make it feel like the holidays.
I don’t know about you guys, but the pumpkin patches near us get pretty crazy. One even has rides for kids, games, snacks and cute photo backgrounds (yes I said it). A few years back we took our pups to one and dressed them up and it was the cutest thing. And I got some cute pumpkins to decorate our place with.
PAINT & WINE NIGHT
There are all sorts of programs that put on these “paint & wine” nights where you paint a picture and drink wine, and I honestly love them. My painting never ends up being “wall worthy” but its a great chance to be creative and make something with your hands, together!
GO TO A FOOTBALL GAME
LOL take a wild guess who came up with this one. I asked Jesse for his ideas and here it is. WELL I think it’s safe to say if you’ve got a man or lady who loves football, this will definitely be a treat for them. With love, comes sacrifice.
TAKE A VEGAN COOKING CLASS
I’ve always wanted to do a cooking class, and I think this could be a fun one to do together. I say vegan, because I’d love for everyone to try cooking vegan (to see how easy it is!)
DO A WINE OR CIDER TASTING
Jesse and I have the BEST conversations when it’s just the two of us, sipping some drinks or eating a long dinner. I love this idea because you get to try new things, it’s cozy, and allows for good conversations to ensue. Find one near you here.
GO TO A HAUNTED HOUSE
This is not my favorite thing in the world, but I know a lot of people love a good scare. Jesse definitely loves these kinds of things, therefore I’ve had to suck it up in the past. I do think it’s fun to see how creative people can get with them.
