Have you ever worn a dress or clothing item to an event or a special day, and long after the event is over that clothing piece brings back a flood of memories? That’s this dress for me. Granted, throughout the years I’ve accumulated a ton of clothing items that I can attach a memory to (and the slight hoarder tendencies in me has forced me to learn to let go of things) but every now and again I’ll have a piece that has a really special memory attached to it. This dress is one of those pieces. (Super side note: I listen to a lot of podcasts and there was one on Invisibilia that talks about our attachment to clothing – really interesting!)
Last month I traveled to NYC to visit my good friend Dorey who was out there for work, and while we were there I attended my FIRST ever broadway show. We saw Hamilton (I know, what a lucky first broadway show to see!) and needless to say I fell in love with the show. Dorey and I were on cloud nine the entire night, and played the soundtrack on repeat for weeks afterwards. I’m sure you can take a lucky guess that this was the dress I wore to the show (and you’d be right). Therefore it will always and forever remind me of Hamilton and my first broadway experience. It is now such a special dress to me.
My personal attachments to this dress aside, I think it’s a must for the summer. The orange-red is such a gorgeous color on so many different skin tones, but will especially complement that summertime glow. The slits allow for a little bit of leg to peek through which is perfect for my more petite gals who can’t always pull off the midi dress cut.
On another note, my accessories here are super affordable (I mean, it’s kind of ridiculous) so I highly recommend checking them out before they sell out.
Thanks so much for stopping by — AND before you leave I would love to hear about the clothing piece you have that has a special memory attached to it — let me know what it is and what the memory is in the comments! xo
