I’m leaving on a jet plane…

Not until October though, don’t you fret!
I’m sure the picture gives it away, but if you haven’t guessed already I’m headed to the big apple!
One of my very best friends is going to Columbia University for grad school and she moves at the end of this month!  I’ll be traveling with one of my best guy friends to help her get settled, do some decorating, and also be a tourist.
I will be losing my New York virginity so any tips on shopping/good eats/places to see would be much appreciated!
Because I’ll be enjoying some much needed vay-cay time… I do not want to leave this little ol blog abandoned!  So I have 4 guest spots open for Thursday October 11th, Friday October 12th, Monday October 15th, and Tuesday October 16th.
If you are interested in being a guest-poster, please comment or email me.
Hope you all have a happy Friday!  I’m off to the river for the weekend!
xoxo,
H

I've got a few basic tips for the city;wear layers, the city is always hotter than the weather reports but every building has the AC cranking so youll end up cold inside. Definately go down random side streets, you're likly to find some really neat shops and places to eat.

I live within a 30 min drive into the City and work 5 mins from the City!

My one blog has some great restaurants to check out:

    Definitely check out:
    Dylan's Candy Shop
Stand (they have a toasted marshmallow milkshake)
    Shake Shack

My dream restaurant to go to that has a cheesecake pop tree is David Burke's Townhouse.

My favorite less known stops would be La Paella in East Village and Cafe Espanol on Bleeker & Sullivan.

You can seriously wander around and find awesome joints everywhere.

Also, check out all the small shops in the Village! There are some great vintage finds there.

If you have any questions, just contact me! I'm in NYC most weekends.

I would love to guest post, but that is my birthday weekend! And birthday weekends for me extend from the week before through the week after. You will love NYC. I left a piece of my heart there when I visited a couple of years ago.

How funny, I actually just arrived in NYC for a work trip. I was also a NYC virgin in 2010, but now this is my 5th trip! The city is amazing, tons to do and see, even just sitting outside to people watch is fun… Which is what I am doing now because my room isn't ready yet, but who cares! You are going to love it! My favorite parts of the city are midtown/upper east by where central park starts, the park is just surreal, and then meatpaking/chelsea by the Standard hotel. Great restaurants and nightlife around there. For food hit the Stanton Social, SpiceMarket or Pastis, and Mercer Kitchen in Soho. Oh Cafe Noir in Soho is great for people watching, grab a glass of wine & olives & just hang out. When you see Times Squarenfor the first time make sure it is night time too! Okay hope that helps 🙂 have a great trip!

I went to NYC for the first time a few months ago! It can be incredibly overwhelming so you're super smart to be prepared ahead of time! We basically wandered around the whole time since we didn't know where anything was… but luckily we found Zara and H&M 😉
