Black Lacquer… it does a mirror good.

Remember when I posted about black lacquer mirrors here?
Well… it happened.
The mirror before was an antique-y gold color with bits of chipped wood here and there.  It’s been with me for a loooong time, through many moves.
I used wood filler to re-create the chipped edges.

I used the Krylon Black lacquer spray paint, with the Krylon primer in black before.
If I were using normal paint I wouldn’t have bothered with the painters tape and newspaper, since regular paint would peel right off the mirror.  Because it was spray paint, I made sure to cover every bit I could.

There were a few spots that sprayed through, so for those I just used the blade of a box cutter to scrape it off.

We hung it on the wall that divides our kitchen and living room.  It’s the first thing you see when you walk into our place and I think it really ties the rooms together.
And there you have it!  An easy mirror makeover, making something old, new again!
Have you re-furbished anything lately?
xoxo,
H
