Vintage Lamp Refurbish

I got these vintage hobnail milkglass lamps awhile ago, and I told you about them here. Well, I ended up buying Ikea lampshades for them in classic white. The only thing left to do? Fix the nasty brass.
I had assumed it was real brass so I bought this stuff:
Barkeeper’s friend $1-3 local hardware/grocery store.
Well…I started to use it only to find some pretty blackness underneath. The damage:

The solution:
Krylon Gold Leaf Pen (Buy this from Michael’s or Joann’s with one of the 40% off single item coupons)
Sandpaper.
I’m in love with the transformation. Honestly, that Krylon pen has been a godsend many times. Have any of you used it before?
Would you be willing to purchase vintage lamps or will you stick to new?

H
P.S. This blog got a little facelift thanks to my good friend John. What do you think? 🙂

LOVE the lamps! I have lamps that I got from a flea market and they're two of my absolute favorites. Oh and the leaf pens? I LOVE them… I have done silver, and gold and they are seriously amazzzzinnng. Thanks for sharing and I love the all white look with the lampshade. Very simple and clean. Great job!
