I LOVE when boredom/scraps of crap (hey I rhyme) inspire you to do something! I have this bag (yes bag…don’t judge) of stuff leftover from costumes/jewelry/crafts that I’ve made in the past.
I had some leftover chain from my DIY designer bracelet I made awhile back, and some elastic thread.
I figured I could DEFINITELY make something with this… I already had a gold chain bracelet, why not make a necklace?
I decided to cut the elastic into two groups of two strings. I wanted the string to be semi-thick. Then I had to figure out how to do a braid with four strings. I found this tutorial on Google Images:
Once I was done braiding the string, I simply tied it in a knot at the other end of the gold chain! Because the string is elastic, the necklace is able to be really short without a clasp or anything! Ta-da!
You could probably even wear it as a headband, which would be cute too!
I consider it free because it was leftover stuff but you could honestly make this necklace for under $5, with probably enough materials leftover to make more goodies! 🙂 Til next time.
