Festival season is just around the corner, and while I’m not attending any this year, I do know a thing or two about them and how to be 100% prepared.  Wherever you are staying, you are going to come across some hair challenges.  If you are camping, you will have limited resources/time/access to go all out with your hair, and if you are staying in a hotel or house, you will have one opportunity to do your hair (when you leave in the morning) and most likely not again since you will be at the festival all day.

If you have never been to the desert before, I am here to tell you it is sweltering hot during the day (sweat will happen), and extremely windy and can get quite chilly at night.  Because of this, you will want a no-fuss hair hairstyle that will last you all day.

I’ve teamed up with Suave to share my favorite hairstyle for days like festival days, and the two products that are going to help make it possible.

  • Step 1: Start with day-old curls, dirty hair and comb through.
  • Step 2: Use Suave Moroccan Infusion Weightless Dry Shampoo for added volume and to absorb any unwanted oil.
  • Step 3: Take an inch and a half of hair on each side of your head and braid into a fishtail braid. Secure with an elastic.
  • Step 4: Pull braid apart slowly inch by inch to create the illusion of a thicker braid.
  • Step 5: Pull each braid around to meet in the back of your head. Tie them into two knots, then bobby pin in place with two bobby pins (cris-crossed underneath).
  • Step 6: Pump a pea-sized amount of Suave Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil into hands, rub hands together and apply to the ends of your hair.  (Your ends will get dry in the desert).
  • Step 7: Enjoy your stress-free hair and have the time of your life!
I love this hairstyle for festivals for a few reasons.  For one, your hair is out of your face (for the most part, unless you have bangs like me), and you won’t have to worry about it getting windblown.  In fact, the messier this hair is the cooler it will look.  It also has a fun boho vibe that goes really well with most festivals themes.
(Let me know if you try this hairstyle out, and even better, tag me in a picture of it on instagram or twitter!)
