I am the worst for not blogging while I was away, but let me tell you, I had NO free time! Wahhh. My co-workers and I had about 2 days off and guess what we spent them doing…SHOPPING! So since this blog is all about saving money but living lavishly, I’m going to fill you in on my discoveries while spending some dough in bloody England.
First off, if you’ve ever been to New York you’ve probably been to the British store TopShop.
I’ve never been to New York, so this was my first encounter. One word: HUGE. This place is so overwhelming and is about three stories tall. I managed to escape with three things all priced about £30-£40. I’m thinking I did pretttty good for myself.
Mmm… think again. The dollar is not worth poo in England. The exchange rate is 1.56 so my £40 blouse is really $62.40.
My co-workers and I were lucky enough to have some super cool local people to fill us in on the cheap places to shop…hellllloooo New Look!
This store is like TopShop, except half the price. Literally I found the same exact blouse I bought at TopShop for £40 but it was more like £20. Yes, maybe the quality isn’t as nice as TopShop, but when buying trendy stuff why spend a fortune? It’s just going to go out of style next year. Needless to say we went a little crazy in this shop because we were so thrilled by the prices.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any cheaper… I present to you…PRIMARK.
Which is HALF the price of New Look. I am wearing a 10 pound blouse from Primark today. The downside to Primark is there’s a lot of junk, so you kind of have to sift through to find the good stuff. But hey, my 10 pound blouse is totally worth it.
Hopefully this is useful, but if you’re not planning on traveling to England anytime soon, I have come back with my favorite British fashion trends to share with you!
Before I start, WHYYYYYY do we dress so crappy in America? Everyone in England looks so polished on a daily basis. No one wears pajamas to the grocery store… ummm….do I ever NOT wear pajamas to the grocery store? No… no I don’t.
Trend: Shell Tops – what can’t you wear these with? pencil skirt, mini skirt, slacks, skinny jeans, and more. Classy and Sexy.
Trend: Tie-neck Blouses – I came home with probably 5 versions of this blouse. So fall.
Trend: Peter Pan Collars – such a vintage feel, perfect for work or holiday parties!
I just sent this to my cousin who is going to be in London for the next year!! Can't wait to hear more!
Aw I'm so jealous of your cousin! She will love it!! I'm sad I didn't get to say bye to you! Looks like you're living it up though! and I have SO much respect for you for working in the reality tv industry… that schedule is ROUGH!
I truly appreciate this blog post.
