When it comes to buying new pieces, I have some criteria I look for that I know work for my body type and style. Two of those things are drop-waist hems and mock-necklines (in addition to tie-neck blouses, ruffled hems and sleeves, skater skirts, etc.) I always find them to be so flattering and they give off a very crisp and polished look no matter what.
Top: Topshop (old – similar super affordable option — great for layering) | Dress: Free People | Booties: Asos | Bag: Old (love this in a similar color – have it in nude) | Sunglasses: Le Specs (on major sale!) | Earrings: Nishi Pearls c/o (also seen here)
This dress was one of those dresses I tried on and instantly knew it was for me. It is a bit of a splurge for a non-staple piece, but as I’ve found with this dress (seen here), if I spend the extra money on a piece I really, truly love, I’ll wear it multiple times and not get sick of it. I’ve only had this one for a few weeks and have already worn it twice (the second time was without the turtleneck because if I’m being honest, it’s been hot as heck here!)
It really is such a versatile dress and the jewel tones are so perfect for the upcoming seasons. What about you all — do you have some splurge pieces in your closet you find you wear more often than the affordable finds?

Thank you! I've been wearing both nonstop!
I love this outfit so much! I'm such a fan of the drop waist dresses, and that with the ankle booties is just perfection! Yes, I find myself "splurging" a bit on some pieces and wear those items so much more often than the affordable finds! I just bookmarked that dress! 🙂
