Succulent Wall Planter

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a DIY for the place.  Frankly, I just don’t have the time I used to have so I end up buying most things new or vintage off Craigslist.  I wouldn’t really classify this as a DIY but more or less “updating” something to fit my needs.

We have a really small patio in our place– just big enough to house a table and chairs and one day a small barbecue (really small).  I wanted to add some greenery out there to make it feel more welcoming, but there just isn’t any floor space to spare.  Two people fit on the patio comfortably and that’s about it.  we have a slab of brick in the middle which luckily for me, already had a nail in it – perfect for me to hang something!  I searched for wall planters all over and this version from Wayfair was one of the more affordable options I found and I like that each plant would have its own pot. The only downside is that the rustic look was not going to go with anything else on the patio or with my house.  I have a black table and chairs with green and white palm leaf pillows, and the rustic tins didn’t seem to mesh well.

I spray painted the pots white and the trim black with a Rustoleum laquer spray paint, and filled the pots with various succulents.  So far, my black thumb has been able to keep the succulents alive but we will need to knock on wood for that statement.

Do you guys have any tips to keep these babies alive?  So far I’ve used cactus soil, and watered only when the soil is dried out.

Happy Monday!
