Workin on my fitness.

I am going to be embarrassingly honest with you.  Lately I am the queen of making excuses for myself when it comes to my health.  “I don’t have time to work out.” “I don’t feel good.” “I’m too tired.” “I’ll do it tomorrow.” “Just one fat meal.” “Just one Big Mac.” The list goes on.
Well I am sick of it. I’m not going to make excuses for myself anymore.
I used to be pretty athletic growing up (constantly in cheer, dance, track) and was pretty good about maintaining gym workouts in college to prep for sorority formals and events.  But I have fallen off the train tracks and it’s really difficult to get into a daily grind.

I find when I haven’t worked out for awhile and I jump back into it, I get really burned out.  So I’m easing myself back in.
My routine:
(The best part about it is that it is completely FREE. No costly gym membership.)
Walk the dog. (15 minutes minimum) –if I can do longer, I will, but if I’m in a rush or have errands to run, I’ll cut it at 15.

After I walk Zo, I come back and do the below routine in my living room. I punch in 60 seconds on the timer on my microwave to count the wall sit.  It’s a great little workout because it makes you sweat but it also only takes you about 20 minutes.

So there you have it.  I definitely won’t limit myself to this forever, but this will always be my default “routine” for when I feel the need to make excuses. Because there’s really no good excuse to not take 35 minutes out of your day to sweat a little.
What helps to get you motivated? Any workout routines you’ve been sticking to?
xoxo,
H

Oh my gosh, I struggle so badly with this too! Once I'm in the routine, I can stick to it, but actually getting into the routine is a huge challenge for me. I recently started taking classes at a studio nearby my house. The good thing about it is that you have to sign up for the classes in advance, and if you don't cancel more than 24 hours beforehand, you still have to pay for it! It helps to keep me accountable and not make excuses!

Love your routine! I do a spin bike at home and something similar to your jumping jack?sit up routine. I also love ripped in 30 from Jillian Michaels but sometimes it's so hard to put in the dvd:)

Good point on the no excuses! We all need to be reminded that we don't need alot of time, or a special place to go just to remain active each day. Thanks for this!

Homagawd, I'm a HUGE fan of the "Just one fat meal" excuse. It's the best/worst ever. Great routine! I lost a little bit of weight after getting a dog just by being outside and running around with her, but lately it's been too hot, or raining, or something and neither she nor I have been getting much exercise. Or okay, I've been sitting down and letting her run circles around me.
