One Room Challenge | Week 1

I have been obsessed with Linda’s One Room Challenge for YEARS.  Years, I tell you.  Twice a year she gathers a group of designers to design one room in 6 weeks.  It’s just as addicting to watch as reality TV.  About a year ago I harassed Linda to let me participate because I wanted to force myself to finish a room- I just can’t do it and I don’t know why.  She finally started a link-up so those of us who are ORC addicts could particpate too, so this time I’m doing it!

I’ve decided to finish our office space, (remember my plans here?)  I confess, I feel a bit like a cheater because I have a lot of things already in place and I’m not starting completely from scratch, but it is what it is!

I already have painted the room – Valspar Perfect Storm (to see the before, go here).  I know it’s a bold color choice for most, but the rest of the house is light grey and white – VERY neutral, so since this was a small part of the house we felt we could go bold.  It also makes the room significantly more cozy which is good seeing as it functions part-time as a guest bedroom.  We still love it just as much as the first day we painted it, which says volumes.

I also have already ordered and recieved a custom desk from Dendro Co. which is BEYOND gorgeous.  I cannot wait to show you guys.  I’ve been holding off because the rest of the office looks like such crap that it wouldn’t do the desk justice.

We have they daybed built and ready but need to get bedding as well as pillows.  Remember when I was debating between a daybed and sofa bed?  We chose the IKEA Brimnes daybed and I’m so glad we did.  It folds out into a king size bed so it fits about 4 of my girlfriends.

I know Jesse and I will both be so relieved to have this room done.  He spends 95% of his time in here working and whenever we have guests over this is where they stay.  It is also my goal to make this as masculine as possible.  (I’m really bad at the whole masculine thing) so it will be quite the challenge.

I hope you guys will follow along!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the dark wall color! I'm trying to get brave enough to use something similar in our powder bath or master bedroom. Can't wait to see everything come together in your space!
