5-Minute Candy-Covered Caramel Apples

mars6

Nothing tastes better in the fall
than caramel apples. Making caramel yourself can be tricky, so I use a shortcut
and melt caramel candy. These caramel apples will take less than five minutes
and they’re really fun to make — you can get creative with it!

If you have leftover Halloween
candy, this is a great way to put it to use, and you won’t feel as guilty about
eating it. An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? This would also be a
fun recipe to do with friends for a fall get-together over wine.

Cook time: 5 min | Prep
time:
1 min | Serves:
Ingredients:
  • 2 bags caramel candy (I used Werther’s)
  • 2 Tbsp. almond milk (or regular milk)
  • 1 bag Peanut M&M’s
  • 1 bag Twix
  • Bag of skewers
  • 4 apples
Directions:
1.  Refrigerate the apples for
at least 30 minutes. Make sure they’re dry.
2.  Place the M&M’s and Twix
candies in a resealable plastic bag and crush them with your hands or something
heavy. Transfer the pieces to a bowl.
3. Melt the caramel candies with
the milk in the microwave for 1 minute. Stir and microwave for another minute.
4. Place the skewers in the apples.
Dip the apples in the bowl of caramel one by one, then roll them in the bowl of
crushed candy.
5. Place the apples in the
refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
6. Eat the apples as is, or drizzle
chocolate on top.
