and in case you forgot…
There’s not too much of a before and after here, but over the past year I’ve accumulated quite a few details to make the kitchen “my own”. I am fortunate that our apartment comes with beautiful granite countertops and white cabinets (my favorite). If it were our own home, I would replace the hardware, sink, and add backsplash.
The most recent find is my Nate Berkus dhurrie rug for $10! Insanity. All thanks to Catharine from Your Modern Couple. She and her husband bought the full size for their living room here, and that’s where I found it. (They’ve since run out of the 2×3 but still have the runner and area rug available).
You’ll remember we added the pendant light here. You can replace any recessed lighting with a pendant light like this one. It adds so much character and I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner.
My dishtowel is from Anthropologie and was a giveaway win from Charmaine’s blog. It ties in my aqua jars (a $10 flea market bargain) perfectly.
The tortoise pitcher was a recent thrifting find, also $10… (I’m sensing a pattern here… my lucky number?)
My staffordshire salt & pepper shakers were an ebay find for $14. The all-white vase was a DIY I shared here.
It’s amazing what a few personal touches can do to a space, and as you can see you don’t have to spend a fortune! This entire space comes in at a whopping $71.
P.S. Don’t forget to enter the two giveaways I have going on right now…

I like the food in canisters. We get ants around here in SoCal and these would help keep them from getting into the goods in the pantry I believe.
So amazing what a few small details can change! Your kitchen looks so great – makes me want to rid of all the clutter in my kitchen!
PS. Totally just bought the runner version of the Nate Berkus because of you! I have been looking for an affordable runner for the longest time! thanks for the tip xo
Congrats on a cute kitchen! I did a post recently about fun appliances and kitchen art, check it out here: http://folledejoieblog.com

Hey Hannah, first off thanks ever so much for popping by my blog and commenting. It's nice to meet you!
A white kitchen always reels me in. In our current rental, I entered through the kitchen door…hello, it was white, and I was sold. I love the changes you've made to make it your own. And really, it is the personal touches that make a home your own anyways. Good job. I actually did change out the hardwear in my kitchen. Got a whole whack of knobs from craigslist.
