I’m pretty transparent with you guys when it comes to how lazy I am with my hair…I just don’t love taking the time to do it. If I could have a genie that popped out of a bottle every morning just to do my hair, I would be the happiest girl in the world. Because of that, I am always trying to find hairstyles that look like they take way more time than they actually do.
This half-up halo braid hairstyle is the perfect mix of messy-undone and looking like you took some serious time in the morning. (Note: I used two rows of 3-clip extensions for the braid portion in this tutorial to add some extra volume, but you can certainly use your own hair for this tutorial if you prefer!)
- Step 1: Part your hair in a deep side part.
- Step 2: Clip in extensions (if using).
- Step 3: Separate hair into two chunks, then into 2 additional chunks (so you have 4 separate pieces).
- Step 4: Taking two of the 4 strands, twist them separately and together at the same time, and secure with a clear rubber band when you reach the end.
- Step 5: Repeat step four with remaining 2 strands of hair.
- Step 6: Hold the bottom of each braid and pull pieces of the twist slightly out one by one, to loosen the strands and give the twist a fuller look.
- Step 7: Take the braid closest to your ear and wrap it around the back of your head, and across the front so that the “tail” is near your forehead.
- Step 8: Bobby pin the braid in place so it feel secure.
- Step 9: Take the braid closest to the back of your head and wrap it around the front of your head, hiding the “tail” underneath the first braid.
- Step 9: Bobby pin the second braid.
- Step 10: Curl your hair with a tapered curling iron and hairspray in place. (I love the TRESemmé Two Extra Hold Hair Spray because it keeps flyaways down and isn’t sticky at all.)
Let me know if you guys try this hairstyle out — even better I would love to see a photo of it on instagram, and don’t forget to tag me!
