Master Bedroom Update: Accent Wall

One of the most frustrating aspects of renting is the fact that you can’t make any permanent changes. If It were up to me, every room would be a different color, or have wallpaper.

I found these wall decals online, and thought they would be the perfect addition to our dining room.

I actually went through the motions and put them up in an argyle pattern in the dining room.  Not only did I run out of decals to finish the wall in the dining room, but I also came to the conclusion it just wasn’t working. Our living room, dining room, and kitchen are all one open space and it took too much focus off the living room. I’m sure you can imagine my irritation. After a lot of pondering, the light bulb came on to try them in the master bedroom.
I think they are the perfect addition and are exactly what the bedroom was missing. I wanted the room to feel like a luxurious and modern hotel room, and the decals just emphasize that and really complete the room.

The decals are from Walls by Mur, and while I’m very happy with the results, I’m sad to report they have since raised their prices.  I was able to complete the wall for $80, but you will now pay around $120 to complete the same size wall.  (Which, is still MUCH cheaper than a lot of wallpaper).
If you are in the same shoes as me and are looking to spice up a wall without permanent damage, I also love these options using masking tape, sharpie, another sharpie, and renter’s wallpaper.
What have you done in the past to spruce up a rental?  I’d love to hear any and all ideas!
xoxo,
H

I am mad about this wall and the colorful combinations in your new bedroom! Plus, I have a penchant for little Chinese porcelain dogs!

Howdy! What type of paint did you put the decals on? Their website says not to put the decals on low VOC paint but almost all paint is low VOC these days. I'm confused. πŸ™‚

Hi! I am not going to be much help here because the wall was already painted when we moved in (we are leasing). I couldn't really see them not sticking well with any type of paint… but you might want to email them just to make sure! Also they sell samples, which is what I did so I could try them on the wall before committing to buying a whole roll.

Hope that helps a little, and thanks for stopping by! πŸ™‚
