Project Bedroom on a Budget: Before & After

My friend Nina moved into a sweet apartment by the beach with her boyfriend last year.  While they had all the necessities, they hadn’t really done much decorating in the bedroom.  Nina asked for my help, and I was thrilled to be a part of the decorating process.  They didn’t want to spend more than $350, but needed pretty much everything; (bedding, pillows, furniture, accessories).  A challenge I gladly accepted.
We did the makeover in a day, and scoured all of the standard discount stores; (Home Goods, Ross, Marshall’s, Target, and Big Lots).
We decided to use the pictures above the bed as the inspiration for the room, and go with a European country feel.

Scores:

Striped Euro Pillows $7.99 each – Home Goods (similar)
Duvet: $39.99 – Home Goods (similar)
Side table: $30 – Ross (similar)
Plant: $8 – Home Goods
Candle Holders: $6.99 each – Home Goods
I’m sure you guys know that my apartment is filled with black, white, gold and modern pieces, so it was really refreshing and fun to put Nina’s rustic and European vision to life.
And we did it all under $350.  The most expensive pieces were the windowpane mirrors which came in at $25 a piece, for a total of $75.  Being that they have really become the statement piece of the room, I think they were well worth that.
On the opposite side of the room is a desk and dresser, but we are looking for some antique pieces that will match the new vibe of the room.  Craigslist is my BFF these days.
Have you scored any budget home decor finds lately?

That is some impressive decorating on that budget! I don't think I could've been able to pull that off…

You're right about those mirrors being worth it! They're stunning. Also facing the window they will brighten up the room even more AND I always think mirrors on a wall gives the illusion of a bigger room.

Wow that looks great! I'm moving to a new country soon and I've been worrying about having to furnish my new place on a small budget. This proves that it's not about the cost but about taste!Well done x
