Project Office Updates

The office is moving along, and I’m so glad.  The Beni-style rug I blogged about here came in and it’s fabulous.  It provides such comfort and warmth in the little office and really makes it feel more home-y. I never thought something as simple as a rug could make me enjoy being in a room more, but it really has.  I find myself spending more time up there while J is at work because it’s a more comfortable space.  And Z loves it naturally.

Another new office addition is this python tray from the Etsy store, Shop City Girl.  I’ve been wanting a python print tray for so long, and this one is the perfect addition to my desk.  It doesn’t hurt that the at $24, the price is extremely friendly.

I’ve found that an important factor in keeping your office space tidy, is to have storage and the tools to organize.  These little boxes from IKEA are only $3.99 for 2 boxes.  They are small, so they don’t take up much space, but they store much more than you would expect.

For now I have my little bamboo (I’ve had it for 6 years!) but I am on the hunt for some bigger green plant to put there.  I’m obsessed with fiddle leaf figs but they worry me because they are poisonous to pets.  Zoey is like a cat, and will jump on tables, so even though I’ll put it on a desk, I worry she’ll get to it.  I’m thinking about mother-in-law tongues.  While they aren’t as aesthetically pleasing, they are really easy to take care of and will bring that green life in that I’m looking for.  I AM however open to suggestions.   If you know of any non-poisonous, easy to care for plants, do share.
You also might remember I posted about My Chic Nest, a store that offers custom furniture.  Well, we took the plunge on the Cayden bench.  If you follow me on instagram, you might have helped me pick the bench color.  Due to popular demand, we are going with “blue smoke”.   I couldn’t be more excited!

P.S.  If you didn’t see my earlier posts, I am competing to be the next face for Wallis Fashion and I could use all the help I can get!  My blog is one of the smaller blogs competing and I could use all the votes I can get.  If I win, I’ll be jetting off to London which would be a dream come true.  All you have to do is like the Wallis Facebook page and vote here, and you can vote every day until April 9th (when the contest ends).  Your support means the world to me.

The rug looks amazing. Isn't it so exciting to see your space come together? I not great at keeping house plants alive so succulents have worked great for me.

Whenever I read an office update post, it makes me wish for a bigger apartment – I'm normally very content with my space, but working from the living room does have drawbacks, like the major distraction factor… Plus I would really love to be able to just make a room my own the way you have. That rug looks so plush and lovely!
