Roll Tide Roll

Well hello there!  J and I are back from our Alabama excursion and we are working on getting unpacked and settled as the week begins.  It was my first trip to the state and as an Arkansas native, I found it to be very similar in a lot of ways.  (So many big, beautiful, green trees and of course that contagious southern charm).
J’s sister goes to the University of Alabama and practically his whole family (aunts, uncles, cousins) took the trek to Alabama to visit her and see the unstoppable football team in action.  It was such a fun and busy trip.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was lunch at Dreamland (it’s a bbq restaurant in the boonies and there’s about 4 things total on the menu.)  Basically you are going to eat ribs, potato salad, coleslaw and bread, without a choice of much else.  Thankfully none of us were vegetarians and we enjoyed every bite.  My mouth is watering just thinking about it again.

We had to stop at Bear Bryant museum to learn about the man behind the houndstooth hat.  It’s crazy how much history that football team has.

The game itself was a trip.  The entire town and probably most of the state of Alabama come out to see the Crimson Tide play.  And with a team that dominates as much as they do, why wouldn’t you?  The school spirit is just overflowing and you can tell there is such a passion for success.

We had a blast and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to visit the beautiful state of ‘Bama.

Oh and a random factoid…while out and about on the town we discovered a new favorite beer – SweetWater.  It’s brewed in Georgia and is only available in the Southeast… so if any of you south-easterners want to send me an early Christmas present…

Hannah, we seriously have SO much in common, it is kind of crazy! My BF's brother goes to Alabama, and we are planning a trip in the coming months! I am also a Kansas native (arkansas, kansas…kinda close, right?) anyways, so funny! Looks like you had a fab time and now I am even more excited for my trip!

    xo,

Oh my those ribs look incredible.

I'd love to go to one of the games, although I'm not really into football, the atmosphere looks immense!

    Hmm maybe…
