I have many style icons, both from today’s times and back in the day, and I love taking bits and pieces from them all to create my own look.  Being that it is #throwbackthursday, I figured I would talk about one of my favorite style icons and how I had her in mind when piecing together this look — Grace Kelly.  I strive for conservative, classic looks with a bit of a modern twist.  Grace Kelly had the exquisitely polished outfits that were both structured and ladylike.
I love pencil skirts, but on me they aren’t so ladylike because I lack the curves for them.  By adding a peplum top, I feel like there is the illusion that the curves are there.  (The print on the skirt helps as well!)  Grace was known to rock a good midi skirt, so I think I covered her there.  I am so drawn to black pieces lately, and am all about a black on black look.  I couldn’t resist adding a peek of color with my earrings to spice things up and keep it fun for spring.
Do you guys think of your style icons when putting together outfits too?  Who is your favorite style icon?  Sound off below!

Anyday that I can piece together an outfit that looks like something Jenna Lyons may even consider is a win in my book! That woman can do no wrong! Also, loving your oversized clutch here!
