My special juice is gonna help me wiiiiiiiiiinnnnn…
^If you don’t know what the above is from, I don’t know if we can stay friends.
Apple Cider Vinegar. It is the magic potion. It’s funny because J and I have a good friend who we say is “all about” special potions. He’s always finding the secret at-home concoctions that sound bizarre but totally work. Well I think I can give him a run for a money with this one. So, you ask…what does apple cider vinegar do? What does it NOT do is the real question.
1. It’s amazing for your skin.
Seriously my skin acts like a bratty pubescent teenager lately. I used to use Proactiv but then it started to dry out my skin and I decided it just wasn’t good to use such harsh chemicals on a daily basis. Not to mention it’s pricey. I switched to a Neutrogena face wash which is decent, but then I also use 1 part ACV and 1 part water as a toner every night. Not only does it help clear up any pimples that want to make a debut, but it also makes my skin feel more elastic and soft.
2. It’s great for your digestive system/metabolism.
I made it one of my New Years resolution to drink it every day. I mix 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar in a full size water-bottle, fill it up with water and squeeze about a tablespoon of agave nectar. It literally tastes like watered-down apple juice and it is such a natural kick of energy (due to the potassium and enzymes in it). Think coffee, but good for you.
3. It cleans like no other.
I read somewhere that it’s good for cleaning toilet bowls. I recently ran out of toilet bleach and had my trusty ACV so I gave it a go. You guys, I wish I could give you before & after pics but you might judge me on the before condition of my toilet. Let’s just say it is a miracle worker. I started to use it to wipe down the sink as well, (and the nozzle) and it helps prevent hard water spots! (A huge pet peeve of mine).
4. It allegedly helps make your hair shiny.
I say allegedly because I didn’t really notice too much of a difference. Granted, I only did one rinse. You’re supposed to mix it with water and pour it over your wet hair after you shower, and leave it on without rinsing. Well I straight up smelled like vinegar (aka feet) all day at work the next day. So I don’t know about this one.. but give it a go if you dare.
5. It helps with mystery sicknesses.
This could go with 1, but I had this mystery rash on my lower back. ( This might be my most pleasant post to date, by the way). I used cortizone cream religiously and nothing seemed to clear up. I finally started using the ACV on it and it’s gone. It was gone in a week. So strange. Yet so magical.
I have also heard it is good to sip when you feel a cold or sore throat coming on… anyone tried that?
So… are you guys a believer in the magic potion? I’m stocking up next time I go to the grocery store, because at that price, and with that many uses, it can’t be beat!

H
P.S. A big congrats to Rachel N. who won the Social Dress Shop Giveaway last week! I’ll be contacting you via email!
Great post! I love all natural remedies like this. I haven't tried ACV YET, but I do use coconut oil fairly regularly, and I love it! So many uses as well.
I'm definitely going to have to try this as a toner – what a great idea!
I have just started using it about a week ago too, and can already tell the difference. I do a shot of it with grapefruit juice before every meal and it seems to curb my appetite and give me a boost of energy. I was doing it gradually throughout the day with the juice and water, but it caused me to drink less water.
I now mix 1 tblsp with the juice from half of a grapefruit and shoot it before each meal. I really want to try it as a toner too now! Thanks for sharing!!
I love finding out new products that help clean! I had no idea! I had a recipe that called for apple cider vinegar ( i forgot what recipe ) and I had no idea what ACV was! Like everything I buy, I always have to smell– lets just say the ACV wasnt a pleasant smell.. haha I dont know about putting it in my hair! But it seemed to work on my meal/dessert I made.
Ive heard of it for beauty reasons, but not cleaning! I need to get more!

I hate the stuff… but it definitely has it's benefits! When I was really sick and wasn't eating for a few days, I was drinking a large glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a spoonful of honey. It was ok. I definitely needed that little bit of nutrition and hydration though!
I never knew apple cider has a lot of benefits! Thanks for sharing this! ๐

amazing post, love the blog…so beautiful ๐
I've used ACV as a toner & I love it! I'm all about home remedies. Seriously I'm the homemade queen. I've slowly gone to using all homemade products (my skin hates all those chemicals in products) I never knew you could clean with it. Just another reason to love it

I LOVE ACV! Funny how I use it for all of the same things too. I did try it on my hair, but it wasn't very successful either. I rinsed it out because I reeked on vinegar. But the smell still stayed in my hair for about 2 days. All hail the almighty apple cider vinegar!
