Even though I’m technically no longer a student, I still get a weird feeling when September rolls around that it’s time to “reset” and time for a fresh start. I think spending your whole life in school will do that to you!
I’m super excited to partner with Office Depot to give you 5 ideas to get more organized this September.
In my opinion, productivity is HIGHLY tied to feeling organized, so these are all tips I’m looking to enable this month for a fresh start.
1. Schedule regular paper purges.
Most of you know Jesse and I recently moved to Los Angeles, and with moving comes a LOT of purging. It blows my mind how getting rid of things lifts a huge weight off your shoulders. In our office in particular, I was shocked at the amount of paper we held on to. We definitely had documents we could have thrown away a long time ago… but what happened is we saved stuff we thought we might need in the future, filed it away, and then we never went back to revisit it to see if we still needed it. I’ve now scheduled a once a month paper purge to my calendar to prevent this from happening in the future.
2. Refresh your office supplies.
One thing I definitely miss about school is going back to school shopping. It used to be my favorite part of September and going back to school. I get so nostalgic in the store seeing all the school supplies and it takes me back to picking out the perfect binder, dividers, pens, etc. It occurred to me that I shouldn’t be envious from afar, I should partake still! I go through notebooks, pens and planners like crazy, so it makes total sense to refresh everything in September. It might be worthwhile to have little checkups throughout the year to ensure your stationery hasn’t become depleted. If your running low, make sure to restock!
3. Color code your calendar.
This is a total game changer for me as I used to keep everything black and white. I juggle quite a few things and found that when everything was in black and white, my eyes would kind of glaze over some important stuff. Color coding everything has made it SO easy to know what my month looks like at a glance.
4. Clean files off your computer.
5. Have an email purge.
4&5 sort of go hand in hand but HONESTLY…these are two things you look at EVERY single day. If it feels chaotic every time you turn on your computer or open your email, that’s not going to help you feel more organized and productive. There are quite a few email cleaning out services online, and I highly recommend doing a trial of one to try to get your inbox to zero before it gets way too out of hand!
I hope you guys enjoyed these tips, and please let me know down below any tips you have to get more organized!
