The adult backpack. Is that a real term? Probably not… I think I made it up (although I might be giving myself too much credit). Nonetheless I call it that because backpacks used to remind me of one of two things. Either a child in school, or a parent at Disneyland. I was definitely “too cool” for a backpack in high school and college which is not super smart in hindsight because they are so amazing, and way more comfortable. The backpack renaissance has even led to some very interesting points being made in the briefcase vs. backpack debate too!
Why do you need an adult backpack you ask? Keep reading to find out.

When I was traveling in Italy this summer (Travel Guides here for Rome, Florence, and Positano), I brought my favorite backpack along with a few of my other purses. I was pretty surprised that I used my backpack almost the entire trip. I think I busted out a regular purse maybe once.
The beautiful thing about a backpack is you can carry more weight than a normal bag, since you have two shoulders to distribute the weight on rather than one. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve worn too much weight in a purse and end up with marks and sore shoulders from switching it from side to side.
The other amazing aspect is that it allows you to be completely hands-free. I’m a crazy person when traveling and will have a vlogging camera, regular camera and phone out all at once to capture all the sights and happenings. Having a backpack means having the room to store the above said things, while also having one less thing to worry about when your hands are full.
It really is a game changer for me, so if you’ve got a trip coming up, or just want to make every day life more convenient, get cho self an adult backpack.
You are looking super cute in this outfit! Love your backpack!
